.District 11 Monthly Meeting Minutes September 30th, 2008

Meeting was called to order by President Jim Barnhart with 19 in attendance.  Those attending were Dan Knecht, Dennis Deeter, Mark Shafer, Marie Barnhart, Joe Collins, Sheryl Blum, Sibyl Hunter, Norm and Shawna Bickley, Art Pickelheimer, Bill and Mitzi Barnes, Janet Fout, Mary Hamilton, Henry Swartz, Ruth Hughes, Bob Durrstein, and Jeremy Osborn.

Minutes were read by Jim.

Treasurer’s Report:  Joe reported finances are about the same as last month.  Not much change.

Office Report:  Mitzi Barnes reports that we have 2011 memberships so far this season versus 2031 members last year at this time.

Motocross Report:  Sheryl Blum reports that Treaty City had a good Buckeye Series turnout, and that Ryan Holliday is leaving the AMA to work for the Kawasaki amateur program.

Hare Scramble Report:  Marie Barnhart reports that turnouts are bad.  Wildwood has 64 riders, Hocking Valley had a low turnout due to a GNCC running on the same weekend, and Krash had 50-60 riders.

Enduro Report:  Charlie Kline was absent.

GP Report:  Norm reports that they had 3 GP’s since the last meeting with about average turnouts.

Road Report:  Mary Hamilton reports there have been bad turnouts at events with the exception of Treaty City, which had 300+ riders.

Hillclimb Report:  Ruth Hughes reports that they had a National Hillclimb with almost 500 riders, and everything went smooth.

Dirt Track Report:  Art Pickelheimer reported that there was a race 2 months ago at Bellfontaine, which almost didn’t run.  Rains threatened to cancel the event, but they somehow got the event finished in time.

Congress report:  Mary reports that proposals are in, mostly miscellaneous cleanup things. She had a proposal to make the rule book pocket sized, another to keep the onion skins, and one to devote a section of the magazine to ages 11 and under.

Dan reports that on the offroad side of things, there is a proposal to create a new division of racing called desert scrambles.  In motocross, there is a proposal insert the word “waiving” into the rules regarding use of the caution flag, and how riders react to it.

Bill Knaeppner was absent.

Newsletter:  Bill Barnes reports that the color ads seem to be getting a good response.  Bill asked whether or not we could allow the Arenacross promoters to advertise the Dayton Arenacross in the newsletter.  After much debate, it was decided that we could, as it did not conflict with another district run event.

Old Business:

Thrills Committee is still gathering sponsorship.  Worker shirts are Texas Orange this year.  The event shirts to be sold are Black or Tan.

Proposals have not made it into the newsletter.  There was discussion on what could be done to save them for this year.  Dennis made a motion to mail all of the proposals to all members, clubs and promoters, 2nd by Henry.  The motion passes 9-1.  Furthermore, there will be a special meeting on October 14th at the Donatos on Fair Avenue, in Lancaster, at 7:00pm to discuss the proposals.
